Before joining Formula Botanica in 2022, Katja Frommelt worked as an executive assistant in the high-pressure world of industry and innovation. Her life was a constant hustle, which left her little room for self-care or creativity. But everything changed in 2019 when stress-induced skin issues forced her to stop and reexamine her life.
Because of her skin allergies, Katja started reading the labels on her skincare products, and little by little, this sparked a passion for natural skincare and holistic beauty. Katja started making her own DIY products and trained as an aromatherapist before deciding she needed a professional education. And that’s when she found Formula Botanica.
Encouraged by a friend, Katja joined the International Organic Skincare Entrepreneur Program, calling it one of the best decisions she’s ever made. She really valued the knowledge and community at Formula Botanica – something, she says, “you just can’t get from books”.
“I loved how clear the courses were, with visuals and videos that made learning feel so accessible,” Katja shares.
Katja soon realised she didn’t have to stay where she was for the next five years if she didn’t want to – she could rewrite her story. After all, she now had the technical skills and knowledge to change her life. And the products she was formulating were better than anything she saw on the shelves. So she decided to become a skincare entrepreneur and help others in their skin and soul journey.
After graduating in 2023, Katja launched Holistic Natural Cosmetics by katjafrommelt.li – a holistic skincare brand rooted in calm, kindness, and conscious formulation. More than just a brand, it’s a space where people feel cared for, both inside and out.
What began as a personal journey to heal her own skin has grown into a collection of over 25 curated products. Inspired by the tranquil beauty of her homeland (Liechtenstein, in the heart of the Alps), Katja infuses each formula with the power of nature and the principles of aromatherapy. Among the brand’s bestsellers are the Calendula Balm and Triple B Body Butter, both designed to soothe, support, and uplift.
Since launching, Katja has seen her business grow steadily, tripling its revenue in just three years. Initially, Katja worked part-time in finance while running her brand, and as of March 2025, she now works full-time on her business.
Her products are available online and in three small retail stores, and she’s exploring pop-up opportunities to meet more customers face-to-face, something she loves about running her own business (along with positive reviews!).
But for Katja, the biggest transformation has been personal. Once shy and introverted, she now shows up for her brand – and herself – with newfound confidence and clarity.
“The main difference now is that I am myself. I don’t have to pretend. I can live a life that’s creative, calm, and completely aligned with who I am.”
Her advice for aspiring skincare entrepreneurs? “Listen to your gut. Know your why. And trust that, you too, can change your life.”
