An idea conceived in 2003 and nurtured into existence in 2015, L’Avyanna Skin Naturals started with an African Ex-beauty Queen’s passion for beauty. May Ikeora, founder of the brand, saw the need to address the market gap with affordable and quality skincare for women-of-colour. L’Avyanna is a natural and organic skincare brand emerging in the ethnic-diaspora beauty space from its European origins. The products are nutrient-based, made with high-performance natural and organic ingredients and are paraben-free. L’Avyanna which means “the strong beautiful woman” is set against the backdrop of empowering women through beauty. It promotes the ideology that women are enough in themselves and that skincare should only advance women and not change them. Formula Botanica delivered the right foundation for May’s beauty brand by increasing her knowledge of skincare and gave her access to a great network to help her build awareness of her brand.
