Founded by Deqa Mohamed in Canada, Sunday Routine was born from a mother’s determination to help her daughter. Watching her daughter and co-founder, Idil, struggle with sensitive, acne-prone skin, Deqa felt frustrated that nothing seemed to work. That experience became the starting point for a deeper journey into skincare formulation, driven by the desire to create solutions that were genuinely gentle, effective, and supportive of the skin.
Deqa dedicated herself to learning how to formulate properly, determined to understand what the skin truly needs. Through her studies at Formula Botanica, she gained the knowledge and confidence to create products that made a real difference. The formulations she developed helped clear her daughter’s acne and gave both mother and daughter the inspiration to turn a personal mission into a brand they were proud to share.
Sunday Routine is built on the belief that effective skincare does not need to be complicated. The brand focuses on thoughtful formulations designed to nourish the skin and support the skin barrier, offering simple routines that respect sensitive, acne-prone skin.
Deqa credits Formula Botanica as a turning point in her journey. Before enrolling, she had long dreamed of creating a skincare line, especially to support her children with acne and eczema, but did not know where to begin.
“I didn’t know the first thing about making products that were safe and actually worked,” she explains. Through the course, she learned how to select ingredients, combine them correctly, and formulate with purpose and safety in mind. Just as importantly, the experience gave her confidence. Seeing other graduates build their own brands helped her realise it was possible.
“It made me think, ‘If they can do it, I can do it too.’”
She also highlights the importance of the ongoing support she received, particularly through feedback and the Formula Botanica community. Feeling supported throughout the learning process reassured her that she was not alone. “Formula Botanica definitely gave me the knowledge, the confidence, and the support I needed to finally get my business started.”
