Working hours: full-time (UK & Europe residents only)
Reports to: Education Manager
Location: work from home with travel as required

Role Overview

Formula Botanica is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Formulation Tutor to join our Education Team. As the Formulation Tutor (Membership), you will play a crucial role in supporting our students’ learning journeys through formulation, education and student support. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of our educational materials and participate in research and development activities. On top of formulation duties, you will additionally be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all of the educational content for the Lab at Formula Botanica, the school’s membership site.

Key Responsibilities

Formulation and content creation:
• Formulate regularly, providing a minimum of two written formulations a month with supporting materials such as images, videos, and teaching materials.
• Provide teaching materials for prospective and current students, including content for the courses, the free Masterclass, the Lab at Formula Botanica, and lead magnets.

Student support and community representation:
• Support student learning and represent Formula Botanica’s views in all communications.
• Engage with students via in-person events, course forums, social media, community groups (currently hosted on Facebook), and helpdesk emails.
• Represent Formula Botanica in live chats, webinars, social media lives, and at industry events as appropriate.

Educational department participation:
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Formula Botanica’s educational materials and participate in research and development activities.
• Actively contribute to making Formula Botanica an outstanding establishment for student support and engagement.
• Participate in ingredient investigations and R&D to enhance the school’s current teaching materials and stay current with industry standards.
• Create educational content for Formula Botanica’s marketing channels, including social media.
• Ensure all work aligns with Formula Botanica’s ethos and adheres to the school’s policies and procedures.
• Undertake regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to keep up with industry standards, including reading industry publications, practical R&D, and attending events.

Membership responsibilities:
• Act as the focal point for all matters relating to the Lab at Formula Botanica.
• Ensure the timely delivery of new educational materials to the Lab for the first day of each month, including Mini Lab and Lab Library content.
• Coordinate the various members of the team delivering content for the Lab to ensure content is delivered to the required standard.
• Book and work with speakers for the Lab’s live or pre-recorded webinars.
• Ensure document control is undertaken monthly for the Lab, with all educational materials correctly named, filed and saved.
• Create graphics for the Lab, using Formula Botanica’s Canva templates.
• Undertake some basic video editing (training provided).
• Work with Formula Botanica’s video editor and graphic designer to ensure more complex videos and downloadable documents are prepared in time.
• Work with Formula Botanica’s LMS Coordinator to upload materials.
• Work with CPD UK to ensure that Mini Labs are accredited on time.
• Ensure that the Lab’s content is always prepared 3 months ahead of time.
• Take part in regular meetings to brainstorm ideas to improve the Lab at Formula Botanica, generate more members and retain existing members.

Qualifications and Skills
• Experience in cosmetic formulation and product development.
• Enthusiasm for organic skincare and haircare formulation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback and clear instructions.
• Familiarity with educational platforms and online teaching.
• Experience with social media and community engagement.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Completion of at least one Formula Botanica course and willingness to complete others.
• Basic graphic and video editing skills (training provided).
